FAQs

What animals do you help?

♥ We treat companion cats and dogs only – A companion pet is an animal living with you full time of which you are the main caretaker and do not intend to breed your pet for profit. Due to limited resources, our clinic is unable to offer support to non-companion pets, including stray or feral animals.

Are there any limits to how many pets I can bring?

♥ We treat only two (2) pets per family per visit – In an effort to be equitable and provide the best care to all patrons, only two (2) pets are allowed per visit for families or individuals living at the same address.

Does that mean I can only ever bring two animals?

♥ No! While the number of pets per visit is restricted you are allowed a maximum of 5 pets per family However to prevent mishandling of resources, each address (household) does have a life time registration maximum limit of said five pets. Therefore, should your registered pet be given away, lost or dies, the pet will still count towards your lifetime maximum.

Can I bring my pet in if they haven’t been fixed?

♥We treat spayed or neutered pets only – Unaltered pets are seen only for their initial wellness visit; additional visits require proof of your pet having been spayed or neutered prior to scheduling an appointment.

As Pierce County has many unwanted animals killed each month. One of our mission’s goals is to help reduce pet overpopulation. Please talk to one of the volunteers if you need financial aid to spay or neuter your pet because while we do not provide those services we can direct you to other resources to receive aid.

 How do I check in?

♥ Curbside Check-in – To provide the most organized and efficient check-in process, our Clinic adheres to electronic and curbside appointment procedures, including waiting in your vehicle until the Clinic is ready to see your pet.

This process will decrease your pet’s stress & amp; anxiety, as well as avoid unpleasant interactions with other pets that could lead to injuries or illness. Onsite signage also provides instructions how to interact with staff when arriving to the Clinic if you have further questions.

What is a wellness exam?

♥ Wellness Exams – During these visits, our veterinary team provides a physical exam, vaccinations, and parasite control, as needed.

What if my pet needs medications or tests?

♥ Our Clinic provides wellness exams, vaccinations, and parasite control. Our mission is to provide preventative care e.g., immunizations and parasite control and not treatments for chronic illnesses and emergency care.

Is there a different system for recurring care like flea treatments or shots?

♥ No, while each pet must initially be seen by our vet, pets eligible to return for flea treatment only do still need to follow the electronic appointment and curbside check in guidelines, and a volunteer will attend your pet as soon as possible.

What if I have further questions?

♥ Please let us know! Alert our staff should you need pet training or diet advice, our clinic wants to support your needs to ensure your pet has a loving, healthy life.

Can I just leave my pet while I go run errands while waiting our turn?

♥ When visiting our Clinic, please remember your pet(s) must always be under the physical control of an adult, as well as always keep your children with you. Please be patient as not all pets are as cooperative as yours and their exam may take longer.

♥ In the same vein please clean up after your pet. – In order to be good stewards of our community, maintain our location and avoid any complaints, please make sure to pick up after your pet to promote our Clinic’s good relations with surrounding neighbors and businesses. Please let us know should you need a waste bag and paper towels.

Do you have a late policy?

♥ We do have a policy for multiple missed appointments and while we expect you to honor your commitment to us and to your pet’s health, we are happy to share it with you upon request.

 Is there any Behaviour expectations?

♥ Aggressive and/or disrespectful behavior will not be tolerated and disqualifies you from future help. Not just the pets!

Can I come in, in an emergency?

♥The Wellness Clinic is not a full-service veterinary clinic and therefore is unable to treat chronic conditions and/or emergencies. If your pet is experiencing any emergency, please contact your closest emergency hospital.
